Hi. After graduation from university in 2006, coincidently, I was already looking for a sales job. Maybe it was my calling, or just that I wanted to do something different, the flexibility in working hours attracted me to sales industry. Some job interviewers told me that I was over qualified, while others left me, without a response.
It was only until 2006 Feb, when i was prospected by a lady at Toa Payoh. Then, the insurance industry was the last thing on my mind. I was asked for a subsequent interview which was held at the old office at Fuji Xerox.
Even after the interview with one of the directors in the company, I was barely convinced. (Though I didn’t mind “trying out”).
As much as I was talkative and chirpy by nature, I certainly did not want to rely on my warm market. And since I have stayed overseas for the past couple of years, many contacts were lost.
However, after a tour of the office (strange as it may sound), I knew I wanted to be part of this family. After all, this is the best in the industry. (which I did think to myself then, like how bad can a poor student do in a top school. I somehow felt that I would be roped along should I be left behind). I felt that the office, with its people had “energy”, which is certainly a push factor for me.
They have also a proven system, which allowed their people to work hard and achieve their goals.
Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®) has definitely helped me in more ways than one. Whether it is to become more entrepreneurial at work or more wholesome as a person (since the company occasionally is involved in charity drives), I have definitely grew and learnt a lot from the company and from my peers.
